Here is some info on this year’s MEA Scholarship and a link to the application. Last year, 24 public high school students and 12 returning college students were awarded scholarships totaling $30,000.
Criteria of Selection
■ Academic achievement
■ Extracurricular activities
■ School/community service
■ All other criteria being equal, first consideration will be given to children of MEA members and students from lower income households.
■ Graduate of a Michigan public high school
■ Will attend a Michigan public community/junior college, a four-year degree-granting institution, or a vocational training institution that grants a degree, certification or license. Those attending the following private institutions will also be eligible: Adrian College, Albion College, Baker College–Flint/Owosso, Davenport University–Eastern Region Campus, University of Detroit–Mercy, Finlandia University and Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University.
■ Undergraduate student
■ Children of MEA officers, fund trustees, and MEA, MESSA and MEA FS staff are not eligible. (A child of an MEA, MESSA and MEA FS staff person is eligible if the other parent is an MEA member.)
